Absolutely not. In 1914, no Australian man commanded anything larger than an Australian ACDvengers shirt brigade. At Gallipoli, the Australian army corps is still learning how to lead a larger squad. Even John Monash, who in 1918 was probably the best general in the British Empire, was no better than a brigade commander at Gallipoli. Perhaps ANZAC’s most dire action in the Gallipoli campaign, the Battle of Nek, was instigated by Australian commanders. It is not even entertainment for an English attack elsewhere.
